Helium Emergence

Helium Emergence is a large-scale projection work that visualizes the collective behavior of relativistic helium atoms under nonlinear field equations. What appears at first like a bird flocking is, in fact, liquid helium interacting through custom field dynamics derived from the Dirac formalism.

The work was projected at monumental scale—80 × 25 meters—across the surface of an abandoned marble quarry in Toli, Xinjiang. Within the geological void, the simulation unfolds as a luminous fluid, turning the stone wall into a field of emergence where atomic and cosmic scales converge.

Helium Emergence continues aorbital’s exploration of computational materiality—treating equations not as symbolic abstractions but as dynamic matter, capable of producing new forms of life, rhythm, and perception.
