Radioactive Creatures

Background radiation surrounds us at all times. This work employs a homemade directional β-particle detector, using bananas and smoke detectors as radiation sources, while aluminum foil and magnets are used to absorb and deflect electrons. Through this process, invisible radiation becomes a material for artistic creation, as if "painting" within three-dimensional space. The resulting film traces the movements of a virtual organism that feeds on ambient radiation, its path unfolding in space. The colors of the trajectory correspond to the energy carried by individual electrons. By making visible what is typically imperceptible, the work explores the symbiotic relationship between nature and technology in contemporary art, offering viewers a unique lens through which to reconsider the environment we inhabit.
